UET Merit System

DETERMINATION OF MERIT 

1. EXAMINATIONS CONSIDERED FOR MERIT PURPOSE 

For admission to all the bachelor’s degree Courses and determination of merit the following examinations are considered: 

a) Intermediate examination or equivalent with the following combinations: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry; OR 

Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science; OR Mathematics, Physics, Statistics; OR Physics, Chemistry, Biology 

b) Diploma of Associate Engineer OR B.Sc. Engineering Technology or equivalent for reserved seats only: 

c) Entry Test 2020. 

2. MERIT DETERMINATION 

2.1 Aggregate 

An applicant must have at least 50% overall adjusted aggregate marks. Aggregate marks are computed according to the 

following formula: 

 In case of Intermediate stream: 

a) Entry Test (ET) Percentage Marks: 30% weight in merit aggregate. 

b) Matric Percentage Marks: 25% weight in merit aggregate. 

c) First Year Percentage Marks: 45% weight in merit aggregate. 

 In case of Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) stream: 

a) ET Percentage Marks: 30% weight in merit aggregate. 

b) Sum of First- and Second-Years Percentage Marks: 70% weight in merit aggregate. 

In case of B.Sc. Engineering Technology or equivalent degree stream: 

a) ET Percentage Marks: 30% weight in merit aggregate. 

b) 7 semesters CGPA if degree is not yet complete: 70% weight in merit aggregate. 

 In case of foreign qualification: 

a) ET Percentage Marks: 30% weight in merit aggregate. 

b) Marks earned in 11th Class (“O” level or equivalent): 70% weight in merit aggregate. 

Notes: 

a) In case the candidate has already completed his/her intermediate or equivalent qualification, their Part-I result 

would be used in computation of Aggregate. 

b) In case of foreign qualification, letter grade will be converted to marks by IBCC formula. IBCC equivalent 

certificate is required to be submitted after admission. 

c) In case of B.Sc. Engineering Technology degree holders, CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 would be treated as 60% and 

CGPA of 4.0 out of 4.0 would be treated as 90%. Other CGPAs would be interpolated accordingly. 

3. MERIT OF INTERMEDIATE (PRE-MEDICAL) WITH MATHEMATICS 

In determining the merit of an applicant having Intermediate (Pre-Medical) with Mathematics as an additional subject, the 

marks obtained in the subject of Biology are replaced by those obtained in Mathematics. 

4. CREDIT FOR HAFIZ-E-QURAN 

i. A Hafiz -e-Quran is given additional marks in determination of merit. He will get the benefit only if he has: 

a) Filled in the necessary check box provided in the online application form; and 

b) Appeared before the “verification committee” appointed by the Vice Chancellor for oral test carrying zero to twenty 

marks and the Committee has awarded marks according to the degree of his proficiency. 

ii. Intermediate/ DAE/ B.Sc. Engineering Technology or equivalent marks are adjusted according to the following formula: 

Percentage Marks obtained in Intermediate/ DAE/ B.Sc. Engineering Technology or equivalent + (Marks awarded by 

the Verification Committee/11)

The "Verification Committee" will hold oral test at 09:00 A.M. in UET Lahore on Wednesday 15th July 2020. It may be noted that

5. CREDIT FOR SPORTS 

i. A maximum of ten marks will be added to the academic marks in Intermediate or equivalent examination of an 

applicant who is a sportsman. He will get the benefit only if he has:) Filled in the necessary check box provided in the on line application form; and 

b) Appeared before the “verification committee” appointed by the Vice–Chancellor for credit of marks and the 

Committee will determine his proficiency as a Sportsman according to the following criteria: 

05 Marks for Physical Test showing actual performance and endurance” 

01 Marks for Inter College Champion” 

02 Marks for District Level Champion” 

“03 Marks for Divisional Level” 

04 Marks for Provincial Level” 

“05 Marks for National Level or under 18 representation abroad” 

ii. Intermediate/ DAE/ B.Sc. Engineering Technology or equivalent marks are adjusted according to the following formula:

The “verification committee” will meet in the office of the Chairman Sports Committee along with Convener Admission Committee.

BZU Multan

Multan has always remained a centre of excellence in education. ,Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya .(1172 - 1262 A.D.), a
Muslim religious ,scholar ,and saint, established a school of
higher learning in theology in Multan, where scholars from all

over the world came for studies and research. Multan has
maintained its central position and centuries old cultural
heritage and therefore suited ideally to become a center of
learning. Thus the University of Multan was established in
1975 by an Act of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. To pay
homage to the Great Saint, the name was changed from
University of Multan to Bahauddin Zakariya University in
1979.
The University is located at a distance of 10 km from the city
center. The main Campus is spread over 960 acres of land. The
University has a fleet of 42 buses_03 coaches ,and 07 HiAce
which provides transport facilities to students and staff.    The University started functioning in 1975 in rented buildings
with 8 departments. Presently, it has more than 40
departments/institutes/colleges. Out of its 599 faculty
members, 333 hold doctoral degrees and among its around
25,160 students, half are female.
The University offers a wide range of programs: M.A.,
M.Sc., MBA, M.Com., MCS, M.Phil, and Ph.D.
Additionlly, in recent years, the University has taken a lead
in introducing 4-Year Undergraduate programs in Science,
Commerce, Business, Pharmacy, Engineering, and English
Literature and Linguistics. Various short-time courses and
diplomas have become popular with the general public and
are offered from time to time.
The University is widely known as an institution of strong
performance and high ambition because it has continued to make excellent progress toward its goals. It plays a
significant role in developing indigenous human resources
through its highly productive achievements, both in sciences
and humanities.
The University through different phases has made
tremendous progress, but some recent developments are
remarkable. To promote the activities of art and culture,
Multan College of Arts was established in 2003. In order to
cater the needs of textile industry, which is a major industry
of the area, the University College of Textile Engineering
was established in 2004. The University has also established
sub-campuses at , vehari ,Lodhrah and Layyah to provide education facility at the doorsteps of the people as

Mulasthana, Sir Gen.  Alexander Cunningham , after conducting excavations in the old fort in 1853 A.D. and 1864 A.D., further adds to these names those of ;Prahladapura ;and Adysthana;. The first recorded event in the history is the invasion of Alexander the
Great in February 325 B.C.
Several other important historians visited Multan including Masudi (915 A.D.), Istakhri (951 A.D.) and Ibn Batuta (1334 A.D.)
and they all wrote about the social, cultural and educational activities in Multan.
Multan’s importance has always been
acknowledged and it has always maintained its distinguished and honorable position among the cities of this region.
The city (740 ft. above sea level) is located almost in the center of Pakistan. It is at a distance of approximately 950 km from
Karachi and 630 km from Islamabad_right on the main highway and about six kilometers from the mighty Chenab, in a bend
created by the five confluent rivers. The vast plain of Multan Division is dissected by rivers_canals and narrow water channels
forming an ideal agricultural base for the economic ,development of the region.

ملتان ، سنتوں کا شہر ، صدیوں سے سیکھنے ، ثقافت اور تہذیب کا مرکز رہا ہے۔  یہ شہر کے قدیم ترین شہروں میں سے ایک ہے

 دنیا.  اس کا اصل نام جیسا کہ چینی مسافر ہیوین سانگ نے بتایا ہے ، جو اکتوبر 1 641 ء میں اس شہر کا دورہ کرنے والا تھا ، اس نے ‘Mu-

 لو سن سان پو-لو ، جس کا خیال کیا جاتا ہے کہ وہ "مولسٹھانا پورہ" کا ترجمہ ہے۔  البیرونی ، جو 1015 ء ڈی میں جنوبی ایشیاء آیا تھا۔

 اس کے ماسٹر سلطان محمود غزنوی کے ساتھ ، اس قصبے کے بارے میں "ملتانہ" کے نام سے لکھتے ہیں۔  انہوں نے اسی سال ملتان کا دورہ کیا اور

 ریکارڈ کیا گیا کہ ملتان کو اصل میں ’کاسیا پورہ‘ ، پھر ہنس پورہ ، پھر بھگپورا ، پھر سمبپورا اور پھر کہا جاتا تھا۔

 مولستھانا۔  سر جرنل الیگزینڈر کننگھم نے سن 1853 ء اور 1864 ء میں پرانے قلعے میں کھدائی کے بعد ، مزید

 ان ناموں میں ’پرہلادپورہ اور اڈی اسٹھنا‘ کے نام شامل ہیں۔  تاریخ کا پہلا ریکارڈ شدہ واقعہ سکندر پر حملہ ہے

 فروری 325 بی سی میں بہت اچھا ہے۔

 متعدد دیگر اہم مورخین نے ملتان کا دورہ کیا جن میں مسعودی (915 ء) ، استخخری (951 ء) اور ابن بطوطہ (1334 ء) شامل تھے۔

 اور ان سب نے ملتان میں سماجی ، ثقافتی اور تعلیمی سرگرمیوں کے بارے میں لکھا۔  ملتان کی اہمیت ہمیشہ سے رہی ہے
